Leads for Yahir

What do we use astronomy for? Local astronomy teacher, Ms Earnhart, argues that We used to use it for guidance, but now we have GPS for that. We used to use it to tell the seasons but now we have calendars for that. Nothing really. And so why study something for other than oo that’s pretty. So why is it still being taught?

“I still think it’s important and relevant for people to be learning about it because it makes think about things outside of ourselves, it makes us look beyond this little tiny speck of dust that humanity lives, it makes us humbled when we look at the vast expanse of space.” says astronomy teacher Ms Earnhart, “And studying astronomy is studying where we come from, the origins of reality itself so it’s helping us get a better picture of what reality is really like.”
Astronomy is something everybody everything should be taught about. It teaches one about history and is very intertwined with other subjects such as Greek Mythology. Senior Hannah Loopa, astronomy student, says she likes being able to look up and tell the constellations and why one god is angry at another.

Could improve those leads man, maybe have your lead a description of one of their stargazing trips?

  2. number three: is an opinion lead :(
number two: this quote isn't significant enough to warrant a direct quote, in my opinion.
number one: is good, and it kind of hooks the reader in, although I might add something after "So why is it still being taught?" to make the reader want to read further.

  3. Number three sounds too opinionated.

Number two's quote is not shocking/startling enough.

Number one's the one. Why is astronomy taught? That made me stop and think. All the leads have some grammar issues though. Make sure to fix them.

  4. Woah. lots of grammar/spelling/capitalization problems. Made it really hard to read and understand. Maybe #1 or #2?

  5. In number one, you should change "oo that's pretty." At least put it in quotes.

    I like #2 the best.

So is your feature about why astronomy should still be taught? Is that a controversy?

  6. Okay kid, I'm gonna' go ahead and say you should use the second lead. However, there are some grammar issues you need to fix. The first one is all right but needs some quotes and the third one seems a little cheesy. But I do like the second one.

  7. I like the third, myself. Also, why say "Ms Earnhart" instead of introducing her as "Alison Earnhart"?

Grammar and spelling and all need fixes, of course.

I'd like to say my favourite is the second, because I really do like that quote, but it's just so /long/... I got lost in reading it. Try shortening it down?
